Linda was lying on the couch a couple of days ago and she told Ryan, “I’m tired I want to go to bed.” Ryan proceeded to come over to the couch and act as if he were putting Linda to bed. Linda thanked him and said, “Night Night . . . daddy? Are you my daddy?” With little thought, Ryan quickly turned and pointed to her and said, “SLEEP!” Linda, in similar fashion to Ryan’s daily bedtime routine, began to act like she was going to get up and mess around. He quickly turned, pushed her down and said in a serious tone, “SLEEP!”
I’m not sure what to think of all this. I do realize that I can be stern when I’m wanting the kids to go to bed, but I don’t think I’ve ever pushed Ryan down. On the other hand, I have probably picked him up and either acted like I was going to drop him in his bed or placed him (gently mind you) on his bed. I just wish my seriousness was more effective in keeping them in their beds in the middle of the night.
I would love if Ryan came over to me and told me to go to bed and not get up until morning. While that sounds like a beautiful dream, I must also realize that it probably wouldn’t happen until the time Ryan is helping me change into my pajamas at night. That I can wait for.
